Ayi Kwei Armah

Ayi Kwei Armah completed his studies at Ghana’s Achimota School in 1958. When Vice President Richard Nixon visited Ghana in 1957, he mixed up his speeches, and offered Achimota a scholarship intended for students at another school. As a result of Nixon’s blunder, Armah received a full scholarship to the Groton School in Massachusetts. In 1970 he obtained an MFA from Columbia and is the author of The Healers, Fragments, and Osiris Rising
