Asclepiades

(c. 330 BC - c. 260 BC)

Little is known of Greek poet and epigrammatist Asclepiades. He may have known or been the teacher of Theocrtius, the founder of pastoral poetry, and some sources indicate he was granted an honorary citizenship at Delphi. His epigrams are noted for their naturalness, lightness, and spontaneity, and were later described by poet and epigram anthologist Meleager as “blowing wind-flowers.”
