Tom Holland is the author of four novels and four books of history: Rubicon, Persian Fire, The Forge of Christendom, and his most recent, In the Shadow of the Sword. He has adapted Homer, Herodotus, Thucydides and Virgil for the BBC, and his translation of Herodotus was published in 2013 by Penguin Classics.
