Anthony Kennedy

After receiving a bachelor’s degree from Stanford in 1958 and a law degree from Harvard in 1961, Anthony Kennedy taught constitutional law for twenty-three years at the University of the Pacific, where he would lecture for hours without notes. He was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in 1975, and was seated as associate justice of the Supreme Court in 1988.
