Newman is the Edwin Wolf 2nd Director at the Library Company of Philadelphia, the author of Love Canal: A Toxic History from Colonial Times to the Present, and the co-editor of The Palgrave Environmental Reader. He specializes in environmentalism in American history and culture. He lives in Philadelphia.
