Shinichi Suzuki

(1898 - 1998)

Shinichi Suzuki went to Germany in 1921 at the age of twenty-two to further his study of the violin; Albert Einstein acted as his guardian. He returned to Japan in 1928 and after World War II helped found a musical school at Matsumoto, where he developed a method whereby music is learned through hearing, not reading.
