James Johnson

Brooklyn resident James Johnson spoke out about experiencing the Covid-19 pandemic while being detained at Rikers Island in New York City. He was being held on remand pending a trial, and thus did not qualify for the release parameters laid out by Governor Andrew Cuomo. “The jail authorities have done basically nothing for me,” he told the Guardian. “They gave me some Motrin IBs for my headaches, which don’t work. It’s really bad here.”
