Robinson Jeffers

(1887 - 1962)

Having studied English literature, medicine, and forestry at Occidental College, the University of Southern California, and the University of Washington in Seattle, Robinson Jeffers found in the writing of poetry a synthesis of his several lines of inquiry. In 1914 he settled in Carmel, California, in a granite fortress of his own construction and design to which he gave the name “Tor House and Hawk Tower.”
