Loretta Napoleoni

After working at the National Bank of Hungary in the early 1980s, the Italian economist and writer Loretta Napoleoni launched a career advising governments and international organizations on counterterrorism and money laundering. In her 2014 best seller, The Islamist Phoenix, she wrote, “The Islamic State doesn’t want to destroy. They want to build out the twenty-first-century version of the caliphate, and that is what makes them so dangerous.”
