Eric Nesterenko

Born in the mining town of Flin Flon, Manitoba, in 1933, Eric Nesterenko played in 1,343 NHL games during a career spanning two decades. After a disappointing four-year stint in the 1950s with the Toronto Maple Leafs—“They wouldn’t allow any freewheeling”—he enrolled at the University of Toronto, remaining a full-time student after he began playing for the Chicago Black Hawks.
