Frank O’Hara

(1926 - 1966)

After serving as a sonarman on the USS Nicholas during World War II and attending both Harvard University and the University of Michigan, Frank O’Hara became a special assistant at the Museum of Modern Art in 1955 and an associate curator in 1965. A member of the New York School of poets, he published six volumes of poetry, among them Lunch Poems, between 1952 and 1965.
