Okuni Takamasa

(1793 - 1871)

A disciple of Hirata Atsutane, who promoted Japanese nativism based on the supremacy of Shintoism, Okuni Takamasa was a well-educated samurai from the Tsuwano domain. His career turned increasingly toward writing before his death in 1871.
