Ron Padgett

The poet Ron Padgett was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and later moved to New York City, where he became part of the New York School. In 1965, Padgett won a Fulbright and used it to go to Paris and translate French poetry. One of his best-known poems is titled “The Absolutely Huge and Incredible Injustice in the World.” It begins, “What makes us so mean?”
