Simon Reynolds

Simon Reynolds studied history at Oxford, where he started Monitor, a journal of popular culture. In 1986 he joined the magazine Melody Maker as a staff writer; the essays and interviews he published there were collected in his first book, Blissed Out: The Raptures of Rock. His other books include Energy Flash: A Journey Through Rave Music and Dance Culture, Rip It Up and Start Again: Postpunk 1978–1984, and Retromania: Pop Culture's Addiction to Its Own Past, among others.
