Tayeb Salih

(1929 - 2009)

Born in northern Sudan in 1929, Tayeb Salih studied economics and political science at the University of London and served as head of drama at the BBC’s Arabic-language service before writing a series of loosely connected short stories and novels set around the fictional Sudanese village of Wad Hamid.
