David O. Selznick

(1902 - 1965)

David O. Selznick’s father, Lewis, had worked in the movie business, but the family fortune was lost in the 1929 stock market crash. David began his Hollywood career at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, moved to Paramount, became an RKO vice president, returned to MGM, and then struck out his own. His productions include Gone with the Wind, Rebecca, and Duel in the Sun.
