John Thomas Stanley

(1766 - 1850)

John Thomas Stanley, 1st Baron Stanley of Alderley, led an expedition to Iceland and the Faroe Islands in 1789, and later published a work on the trip, Hot Springs of Iceland. His daughter married William Parry, who set a record for traveling farther north than anyone else, and one of his grandchildren was the mother of Bertrand Russell.
