Preston Sturges

(1898 - 1959)

Born in Chicago, Preston Sturges wrote and directed some of the best-remembered screwball comedies of the 1930s and ’40s, including The Lady Eve. He died of a heart attack at New York City’s Algonquin Hotel while working on his memoir, The Events Leading Up to My Death.
