Henry Turberville

(c. 1607 - 1678)

Born in Staffordshire, Henry Turberville was a Roman Catholic priest best known for writing the Abridgement of Christian Doctrine, better known as the “Doway catechism,” from which the later “Penny catechism” was derived. He also wrote a Manual of Controversies, which both compiled controversies and provoked them.
