Isabella Whitney

Few biographical details are known of the life of English poet Isabella Whitney, except for the superlatives attached to her career. She is believed to be the first woman in England to publish secular poetry. Her breezy verses often dealt with love won and lost and the role of women in a world that often went on around them instead of with them.
