Italian Franciscan friar and historian Salimbene Di Adam.

Salimbene di Adam

(1221 - c. 1290)

Born into a wealthy Parmesan family in 1221, Salimbene entered the Franciscan order in 1238 and in the 1240s went in the capacity of a wandering monk from monastery to monastery in Lucca, Pisa, Cremona, Troyes, and Paris, among other cities. Organized as yearly records from 1168 to 1288, the Chronicle contains details about his travels, the notables whom he met, and the various disputes between friars about proper conduct. Salimbene died around 1290.
