Félix Fénéon

(1861 - 1944)

Born in Turin and raised in Burgundy, Félix Fénéon was a journalist who rose to prominence in fin-de-siècle Paris as an art critic. Late in life he ran a publishing house but printed no collection of his own work. To the suggestion that he do so, he said, “I aspire only to silence.”
