Otto Friedrich

(1929 - 1995)

Born in Boston, Otto Friedrich reported overseas for the Stars and Stripes and United Press after graduating from Harvard in 1948. After stints at the Daily News and Newsweek, he spent seven years at the Saturday Evening Post and chronicled its 1969 closure in Decline and Fall, which won a George Polk award. A longtime editor and writer for Time, he is the author of several books, including Before the Deluge, The End of the World, and City of Nets.
