Madhur Jaffrey

At the age of nineteen Madhur Jaffrey went to study acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, where she received recipes in the mail from her mother and began cooking for the first time. After graduating in 1957 and then moving to New York City, she starred in the film Shakespeare Wallah in 1965 and published the first of her many books about food, An Invitation to Indian Cooking, in 1973.
