Chuck Jones

(1912 - 2002)

Chuck Jones joined the Warner Bros. cartoon unit in 1933 and directed his first short, The Night Watchman, five years later. In a career spanning over sixty years, he created Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote, and Pepé Le Pew and further developed the characters of Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. One of his most famous cartoons, What’s Opera, Doc?, was a six-minute spoof of Richard Wagner’s fourteen-hour The Ring of the Nibelung. Jones received four Academy Awards.
