Saul Levitt

(1911 - 1977)

Saul Levitt planned to become an engineer until H.L. Mencken convinced him to pursue writing, with the assurance that “you will make just as little money.” In the thirties he joined the Federal Writers Project, President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s program that supported writers during the Great Depression.
