Mimnermus

(c. 630 BC - c. 600 BC)

A Greek elegiac poet, Mimnermus has long been claimed a resident of Colophon for his portrayal of the city’s foundation in his poetry. Though his poetry also touched on historical and mythological subjects, the whole of his work suggests erotic themes, including the praise of attractive boys, took precedence.
