Albert Speer

(1905 - 1981)

Inspired by one of Hitler’s speeches to join the Nazi Party in 1931, Albert Speer became the architect of the Third Reich, designing the Zeppelin Field stadium immortalized in Triumph of the Will. He was made minister of armaments and munitions in 1942. Tried for war crimes at Nuremberg, he was sentenced to twenty years in prison. He died a free man in 1981 at the age of seventy-six.
