Karl Steel

Karl Steel is a professor of medieval literature and teaches at Brooklyn College and the Graduate Center, City University of New York. His books are How to Make a Human: Animals and Violence in the Middle Ages and How Not to Make a Human: Pets, Feral Children, Worms, Sky Burial, Oysters. He lives in Brooklyn.
