Appian of Alexandria

(c. 95 - c. 165)

Greek by birth, Appian gained Roman citizenship in the early second century and held a number of legal and governmental positions in Rome. His best known work, the Romaica, was a history of Rome from the republican period into the second century arranged ethnographically according to the peoples and rulers conquered by the Romans.
