Blaise Cendrars

(1887 - 1961)

Poet and novelist Blaise Cendrars enlisted in the French Foreign Legion in 1914. His regiment took part in the second battle of Champagne. On September 28, 1915, after Cendrars was wounded during an attack on Navarin Farm, his right arm was amputated.
