Deborah Cohen

A professor of history at Northwestern University, Deborah Cohen has twice won the Forkosch Prize, awarded by the American Historical Association for the best book about the history of Britain. Her book Household Gods explores the nineteenth century’s burgeoning British mania for interiors: “Urged on by clergymen who preached that beauty was holy, Victorians evaluated the merits of sideboards and chintzes according to a new standard of godliness.”
