Eduardo Galeano

(1940 - 2015)

Born in Montevideo in 1940, Eduardo Galeano quit school at the age of thirteen, finding employment as an office messenger and a cartoonist for a socialist weekly. In 1971 he published Open Veins of Latin America, and in 1986 he completed Memory of Fire, his trilogy seeking to make “history talk about itself.”
