Pope Innocent IV

Pope Innocent IV was elected to the papacy on June 25, 1243. In 1244 he fled Rome for Lyons, fearing the wrath of Emperor Frederick II, whom he had condemned and formally deposed for not recognizing the universal supremacy of the Church.
