Dwight Macdonald

(1906 - 1982)

In 1936 Dwight Macdonald resigned from his editor position at Fortune after executives softened his attack on U.S. Steel. He joined The Partisan Review and later founded his own magazine, Politics. In the early 1950s, Macdonald was hired as a staff writer at The New Yorker, there publishing “Foundation” as a four-part series.
