Toni Morrison

While working as an editor at Random House in 1970, Toni Morrison published her first novel, The Bluest Eye. Her third book, Song of Solomon, became the second novel by an African American—after Richard Wright’s Native Son—to be a selection for the Book-of-the-Month Club in 1977, and her fifth book, Beloved, won a Pulitzer Prize in 1988. Morrison is currently the most recent American to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature. She published Home in 2012 and God Help the Child in 2015.
