Philipp Blom is a historian and novelist living in Vienna. His books include Enlightening the World: Encyclopédie, the Book That Changed the Course of History; The Vertigo Years; Luxor; Nothing but the Clouds Unchanged: Artists in World War I; and Nature’s Mutiny: How the Little Ice Age of the Long Seventeenth Century Transformed the West and Shaped the Present.
