American author Steven Millhauser.

Steven Millhauser

In 1972 Steven Millhauser published his first novel, Edwin Mullhouse: The Life and Death of an American Writer, 1943–1954, by Jeffrey Cartwright, a fictional biography of an eleven-year-old novelist as written by his twelve-year-old friend. He received a Pulitzer Prize for Martin Dressler in 1997. Millhauser once said in an interview, “I revere the great realist masters and am drowned in their work. I turn to Chekhov and the maligned but superb Maupassant far more than I turn to Kafka and Bruno Schulz.”
